Saturday 20th May
Was my last day at SOS yesterday..my heart felt heavy and few tears were dropped being here has been more of a emotional connection with the 49 disabled dogs I worked with each day. And that's without meeting many many more dogs each day of the 500 that were in outside area and more disabled dogs out there think another 30.
Was very special to be in Sri Lanka over Vesak Budda birthday the night before was really like xmas eve for everybody here buying special food/spices/ and decorations for there homes and temples.
Peoples homes had lots of sparkling lights and had decorated trees outside and lighten up lanterns were hanging. Saw some amazing lights around huge temple's on my train ride back from Colombo, at night it all looked truly beautiful and felt like xmas they also had two days public holiday.
Seems like weddings season has arrived in Sri Lanka...Here they take there wedding photos at 7am better light and not so hot and get married at 8am. Have had a quiet a few here at the hotel is such a beautiful setting right in front of the sea...But it means very early mornings for me as brides get up at 2am....The bride and groom look very beautiful in traditional clothes.
Funny here when you are out people ask where are you going???????I say work but is abit hard for them to understand me gong to work volunteer is abit better. Some here first question how OLD???And in India they use to say whats happened I would say nothing.......usually in both country's what country you from and next you married?..with some I interest.
Will write bit more next day or so getting ready to move tomorrow Sunday. Have a week before flying back to India. Im heading to Udawalawe going in land now seems lovely forest areas ahead going to a National park and then to Ella for a few days and getting train from Ella to Kandy is one of the beautiful scenic train rides here about 7 hours. Being a tourist for a week.. aren't working for over two weeks that will be quiet strange nice tho to have bit of rest time also.
My thoughts to you all keep warm and cosy in NZ...bit opposite here...
My sister has been bit loser to me for two weeks as she travels in China...nice thought..
