Thursday 15th June
Leaving Varanasi tomorrow and flying to Delhi overnight there then next day Udaipur start a months volunteer work at Animal Aid Unlimited.
Have really enjoyed my time in Varanasi walked down to the Ganges everyday and spent time with the dogs and puppies there, taken little food but have been waiting to met the people that go there everyday and feed them ..Yesterday found one local man who plays the didgeridoo to get money to cook rice and curd for them..had a long wonderful conversation with him he knows all the dogs and told me of there stories and there recoveries and he cares for the ill and dying dogs at his home.. in fact we shared some happy and sad tears together.....There is another couple who do the same thing ..Contacted animals for Varanasi but only heard back tonight abit late to go and visit..they do vet care and de-sexing for some street dogs also have a clinic but very limited money..I went looking for hope for these dogs I've seen and feel a got some for them.
I have embraced what Varanasi has to offer and learnt a lot and experienced many things only that can be done here I feel. Enjoyed my boat ride on Ganges for a hour was very peaceful considering the amount of other people around, boats and children swimming...a memorable experience for me.
Also found the monkey ambush place as you walk through a narrow tunnel on to the alley where the shops and restaurants are..now I no why people walk through with a stick just to scare them off...
Have spent time sitting and talking with locals after they see you around the area for a while.
After being in India for a while now do notice the dust affects you try to wear scuff around face some people here wear masks which is a good idea and the noise population beeping of horns done continuously when driving it just sometimes hurts your ears.thats all..
Looking forward to my next adventure and volunteering again.
Have had a special and lovely break here in Varanasi, connected with the locals and doggies..
Now addicted to chai again....
Take care everyone...
