Well what a week, being at the Noida SPCA puts you at the forefront of everything that comes in off the streets.
If anyone needs so much more help and support in all ways it is this organisation. Recently had changes of management but have very limited resources and funding. They get there medical supplies from govt organisation and this week had to wait for them to arrive(after phone calls) leaving none of very little medical help for those that need it the most. They do all they can with what they have and get some great results, amazing considering.
Main cases that came in this week road accidents here there are express ways and traffic goes so fast in fact told my auto rickshaw driver to go slower wanted to get home alive......now he goes medium he calls it and is a lot better for me anyway. But these poor dogs being hit don't stand a lot of chance of survival if its head related injuries, in fact a human also really. Sometimes I get to spend a short time with them before passing.The employees probably wonder about me, a little older white women who always cry's when a dog passes away, here it is apart of there daily life and are immune to it. It is tick season now monsoon has arrived seen tick fever cases come in and is also very bad time because of monsoon for wounds to get infected so quickly and maggot infested happens so so quickly. They brought a cow in from the side of the road who had its hoof hanging by a thread for very long time could imagine the infection.
In the week two German shepherds have been brought to spca to be abandoned there. One man said he found the dog on the street it was his dog wont forget the look in that dogs eyes when he walked away..And the look of the management after another dog has been abandoned seen the same look at our own SPCA in NZ. People here have the money to buy purebred dogs but once grown don't no how to care for them and some don't want to spend any money on any medical help for them also..Also see some well kept and maintained purebreds dogs hereo..But not a good environment for some breeds here in India.
BUT has been releases this week also, happy dogs looking out of the spca truck as they go back to where they were picked up from, always a reminder of the work that has been done .
People in Noida have now got use to seeing me around and have many more interactions which is lovely and often a few laughs..It has been amazing once again to learn more how to communicate with one word sometimes and lots and lots of hand signal's. Ticks are sure bad this time of the year I take them home with me and even after a shower I found one, now shelf check each night is that a freckle or a TICK on me??????The ladies at work say they are in there house and can see them up the walls they are doing a spray in there homes this weekend. It is one thing I would not want to bring back to NZ with me that's for sure..
My thoughts can only be what would happen to all these animals that are left on the street's in such bad conditions if it wasn't for the Noida SPCA.Who survive on so little. Thank god for them.
