Sunday 2nd July
Wow cant quiet believe it we are into July already. Six months I have been away has gone really fast .... some things seem quiet a while ago remembering where I've been and what Ive done  etc...
Just about two weeks I've been at Animal Aid Unlimited Udaipur ..This place was founded by a American couple in 2002 and there daughter also works there after the family moved to India. Is a charitable trust and run all from donations from all round the world. Is on about 5 acres and has 150 dogs many disabled/blind etc. 40 cows and 25 donkeys, all animals have been recued off the streets after injuries and illness and rang in by the pubic around Udaipur they get at least 20 calls a day. Really have done a lot of education and advertising out in Udaipur and results have been amazing to get help for all the street animals have done  medial treatments to about 65,000 street animals sice starting. Cost of running the centre are $30,000 Rs a month about $630 NZ  dollar's. And employee 60 staff really have done a wonderful job to get such a big centre running so well and effective fast results for the street animals. If the animals treated are able to survive well back out on the streets they are put back, other than that they all have a forever loving home here. Unfortunately not a lot of dog adoptions happen if any here also. People are abit scared of the dogs and think they are dirty and throw stones at them and the cows  I have seen.  People want purebred dogs. Have seen German shepherds'. Bull dogs, black labs the biggest Great dane I have seen in my life..
So far this centre has been one with a really accurate amount of staff to give all the animals what they need. Have been working with the disabled dogs, sick dogs and puppies all different areas and the staff have time to give love and attention to each dog. Seeing  heart felt love given with compassion and empathy from all staff has been so amazing to be around everyday here in India.. I go everyday also to sit with the cows in hospice area. Over there with the younger guys  I seem to of got a new nick first time ever not sure how proud of it I am its Granmama the young guys said I remind them of there Granmama...but a strong Granmama they say, that's good I thought . At least you are  given a chair at lunch time in respect of age, that's a bonus. Everyone one here is happy and welcoming and all have a great sense of humour, which is so lovely to be around..
They seem to do heaps of tours of the centre to local and no they have done huge outreach programmes to schools locals communities about safe dog approach and about how to get help for street animals through them also.
Monsoon has arrived so huge heavy showers of rain and big paddles to work through and lots of mud..is quiet abit cooler with it some times feel COLD. But it also brings other issues for animals on the streets of course to find shelter etc but infection and maggot wounds  happen faster and will need a lot more help. Im seeing it with the cows in hospice already.
Enjoying another experience here in Udaipur the people are very lovely happy, helpful  and seem to like to  sing al lot. The children are very friendly and love to talk to you as you walk past.
Will post photos sending all my thought to everyone and do miss you all and home in NZ.
Jo
