Thursday 7th September
Still in Kathmandu enjoyed my week just looking around at different sites many temples Ghats here to see and Stupas monasteries, still can see results of the earthquake damage from a few years ago at some temples.Enjoying being with other tourists and socialising. Its all been quiet easy getting around here, temp been 28 and down to about 20-22 at night. Been lucky so far not a lot of rain. Have visited Swayambhunath stupa also Buddhist monastery there and lovely views of the Kathmandu valley below. Royal palace and garden of dreams. Durbar square alot of old temples there and quiet big to walk around. Pashupatinah, Shiva where Bagmati river runs through and meets the Ganges a very holy place similar to Varanasi where they do ceremonies and cremations many people want to go there once they die, has some amazing temples/Ghats up above and monkeys and dogs and one cat felt like a little piece of heaven up there.I'm planning to leave Kathmandu Saturday and do 7 hour bus ride to a Pokhara bit closer to the mountain's and has a lake bit quieter than Kathmandu. I'm travelling opposite direction to Mount Everest but that is long way away also and seeing it sometimes isn't possible this time of year.
Nepal is a lovely country to visit with its people and culture has been a lot easier than some of the others countries I have visited.
Are feeling for the people and countries being effected by flooding, hurricanes and all different types of weathers ..Maybe its a sign for us all to look after our own environments. I no we cant change mother nature but I feel we all can do a lot better at preserving what we do have.
Thoughts to you all.
